Main Task: Introduction

My name is Jessica Samuels, I am doing AS level Media Studies and my task is to create my own music magazine. I will need to design and produce a front cover, contents page and a double page spread. The genre that i have chosen for my music magazine will be dance music. I have chosen dance music because it's one of the genres that I’m interested in, so I’ll have an idea of different topics to write about.

I will have to do thorough research and planning before I can begin to design my magazine. I will start by finding a similar genre music magazine to what I am doing. I will analyse it, which will hopefully give me an example on the layout, colour scheme, text and so on.

I will the have to do some research into what type of audience I am targeting and how to make my magazine appeal to them. I will do this by questionnaires via medias such a social networking sites. I will also research some magazine publishing companies and look into how they target specific audiences and stand out from other companies. This will help me think about why people would want to read my magazine over other music magazines.

Once all the research is completed I can start to take picture, draw and design my front cover, contents page, and double page spread.
